The Kia Champ into the Arena 2013 tournament concluded in fine style this weekend at the Randburg Sport Club with Mobitel emerging victorious and earning the right to represent KIA Motors South Africa (KMSA) at the global competition in Brazil on 24 – 27 June 2013. The first round of games was tightly contested by the 6 provincial finalists with Fast Five and Young Legends topping Pool A and Pool B respectively. It was down to the last 4 teams with the first semi-final encounter pitting Fast Five from Cape Town against Durban based Mobitel. The second semi-final was a Gauteng derby between Young Legends and First Team.

With both fixtures producing many goals, the KIA Champ into the Arena 2013 Final berths were deservedly afforded to First Team and Mobitel. Prior to the final match, a curtain raiser match took place between the Brian Baloyi Select Team and the Kia celebrity brand ambassador team led by well-known DJ Mark Pilgrim and all three members of the multi award winning band, Micasa.

“It felt good leading my team on the field as an infield player for a change and most importantly in the spirit of friendly competition with my peers,’ said Brian Baloyi, Kia Champ into the Arena 2013 Ambassador.

The main fixture then witnessed a highly competitive match with an avalanche of goals and passion, with team Mobitel from Durban emerging as overall winners.

“Kia Motors South Africa will be well represented in the global finals by a talented and organised team in Mobitel. They were absolutely awesome in the Durban qualifiers and took their game to the next level in the Kia Champ into the Arena National Finals,” concluded Spiderman.

“It is a magnificent feeling being crowned champions and we really look forward to representing Kia Motors South Africa (KMSA) at the global tournament in Brazil. It is also a great incentive to have our player Lowell Kinsey as the tournament leading goal scorer with 9 goals. But all in all good team work,” said the emotional winning captain Kerwyn Jackson. This result unfortunately means that First Team have now been the runner up for the second consecutive year.

“On behalf of Kia Motors South Africa we are delighted with the response and passion displayed. Well done to Mobitel and we wish them luck in representing Kia Motors South Africa in June from 24 – 27 in Brazil at the global finals,” added David Sieff, KIA Motors South Africa National Marketing Manager.

The team will depart from O.R Tambo International Airport on 23 June 2013 to arrive in Brazil on the 24 June 2013. They will then depart Brazil on 27 June 2013 and arrive at O.R Tambo International Airport on 28 June 2013.
