KIA partners with Butterfly Products as The World’s Longest Test Drive gives wings to education
As final preparations are made for The World’s Longest Test Drive, which kicks off in Durban this Friday, 14 October 2016, KIA Motors South Africa is proud to announce yet another important partnership for their record-setting launch of the all-new KIA Sportage. Joining the adventure is leading education and stationery manufacturers, Butterfly Products, who will join KIA for a charity school drop on Day 3 of The World’s Longest Test Drive.
“KIA Motors South Africa has a longstanding association with education as the primary form of empowerment,” says David Sieff, Marketing Director for KIA Motors South Africa. “We partnered with the SHOUT Foundation for many years, and have participated in the both of the annual CEO SleepOut events. It was a no-brainer to include an element of upliftment in The World’s Longest Test Drive, and we are excited about making a tangible difference in the lives of hundreds of learners, something we could not have achieved without the tremendous support of Butterfly Products.”
On Day 3 of the World’s Longest Test Drive, which sees the fleet travel from Bloemfontein to East London, the convoy will make a stop at Besembos Primary School in Reddersburg, about 70km outside of Bloemfontein. There is a massive shortage of stationery and other educational aids at Besembos, which has more than 200 learners, and with the help of Butterfly Products, The World’s Longest Test Drive will take a short break to make a big difference.
“Butterfly Products has a longstanding relationship with KIA Motors, who has supported us in the Back to School arena,” says Farrel Nussbaum, Managing Director of Empire Toy & Stationery. “When the opportunity to give something back to the community came along, we jumped at the chance to support the underprivileged as a way of saying thank you to the broader community for supporting us. We are humbled to have the opportunity.”
The KIA RecordSetter World’s Longest Test Drive kicks off on Friday, 14 October 2016, in Durban, and ends at Cape Point on Thursday, 20 October 2016 – just in time for the official debut of the all-new KIA Sportage on Friday, 21 October 2016.
KIA’s record-setting attempt has seen more than 30 000 motoring enthusiasts register to participate and will, upon conclusion, set the world record for The World’s Longest Test Drive.
