Seven7 Drive 2019 kicks off in Centurion
- Seven7 Drive teams depart on Day 1 from KIA Motors Centurion
- First hospital visit concluded in Polokwane
(CENTURION) 30 May 2019 – The 2019 Seven7 Drive kicked off this morning as an excited team comprising Danie Botha, one of the Seven7 Drive founders, and Reuben van Niekerk, editor of the popular Leisure Wheels magazine, departed from KIA Motors Centurion on Day 1 of the epic childhood cancer awareness and fundraising drive. The team were sent on their way by the team from KIA Motors South Africa, KIA Motors Centurion, supporters and friends of the Seven7 Drive initiative.
The team, driving a KIA Grand Sedona, departed just before 09:00, heading north on the N1 towards Polokwane in Limpopo. Following a stop at KIA Motors Polokwane, who sold cupcakes in aid of Seven7 Drive’s nominated beneficiary, Cupcakes of Hope, and collected toys for distribution during the various hospital visits, the team paid a visit to the paediatric oncology ward at the Polokwane Hospital, spreading love and hope through a simple act of kindness.
From Polokwane, the Seven7 Drive continues towards the North West Province for a scheduled stopover in Groot Marico. On Friday, 31 May 2019, Day 2 of the Drive sees the team cruise from the North West Province to the Northern Cape, where they will visit KIA Motors Upington – who have also sold cupcakes and collected toys – before visiting the paediatric oncology ward at the Harry Surtie Hospital in Upington.
Day 3 commences on Saturday, 1 June 2019, as the team heads south towards Cape Town, and up along the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth on Day 4. Further stops include Bethlehem in the Free State, Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal, and Nelspruit and Lydenburg in Mpumalanga before ending again in Pretoria on Wednesday, 5 June 2019, with a visit to Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
The 2019 Seven7 Drive is supported by KIA Motors South Africa, Tracker, Airbnb and Wrap Vehicles. All funds raised go towards the Cupcakes of Hope organisation (www.cupcakesofhope.org).
